Amulets #1

(2023)

These amulets are a study of experimenting with materials and objects that I find in the place I inhabit. I am interested in highlighting the materiality of each element and playing with the formal and transformative factors of these materials, which by generating small changes or interventions create small sculptures or amulets. Conversations between elements that carry energy, that interact with each other, that suggest a movement, tensions, or rest.

In this particular place, the materials I found were small remnants of works of past residents of the Vermont Studio Center, some of them still retained the gesture of their former owner, and landscape elements intervened with the intention of playing with their material and transformative character.
