2 seeds, 10 stones of different sizes, 3 small pieces of soil/sand, 4 metal things, 4 wooden things, 3 glass containers with water from 3 different places, 3 photographs of the sky, 2 random objects, 3 eaten seasonal fruits seed, a list of tree kinds of trees, a list of three visited places, 3 photographs of the sky, your shoes.

I sent instructions for a walk to Simon Fischer to follow. He walked through Karlsruhe, Germany, without a fixed destination. The aim was to move slowly, observe attentively, and collect objects that resonated with the landscape. As he walked, Simon gathered seasonal fruits, branches, stones, seeds, metal and wooden items, and photographs—each carrying traces of its surroundings. This exercise encouraged a mindful engagement with place, revealing overlooked details. The collected objects functioned as metonymies of the landscape, bearing witness to the environment’s memory and transformation.

The installation at Garage 04 brought these elements together. Objects, photographs of the sky taken at three different hours, and handwritten lists—naming three seasonal fruits, three types of trees, and three places visited—were arranged on an elevated surface and displayed on the walls. Some were intentionally placed, while others were left to interact freely.

To deepen this dialogue, Simon left his shoes at the entrance, grounding the experience in a physical gesture. Like the gathered objects, they marked the walk as an act of exploration, connecting body, place, and material memory.
