I aim to deconstruct the landscape by abstracting its details, textures, and colors. They are made with natural materials, which by their nature are constantly in flux, and as a result, the work takes on a life of its own. Time will make its colors change or fade. I used natural pigments, including, on occasion, those extracted from the landscape itself, to dye and paint textiles of natural fibers.

In addition, I explored the use of embroideries inspired by nature and landscape, of abstract textures and forms, taking a different approach to drawing and painting. These abstractions work by focusing on particular repetitive characteristics, color, or texture. For example, in this work “Untitled (Eastern Hills)” the few trees that are in sharp relief function as a metonymy for a forest and, indeed, a representation of the landscape as a whole.
